One of the most epic and fascinating journeys I’ve been on, the Mandalay-Lashio train provides a myriad of authentic scenes from food vendors and local families to the exhilarating crossing of the 100m high Gokteik Viaduct bridge.
With a lot of luck, I discovered some of the best (secret) locations to watch incredible sunrises and sunsets. With over 2,000 temples/stupas (some nearly 1,000 years old), Bagan is truly a must-do wonder of the world.
The abandoned amusement theme park in Yangon is totally a must do if you’re there. I explored it alone and made a crazy haunted carnival style video.
An introduction to street food in Myanmar, on a tour with Sa Ba Street Food tours in Yangon. Watch a video of us discovering dishes such as mohinga, Burmese salad, Lann Ta Ye Mont (fusion dosa), falooda, Si Chat Khout Swe (garlic noodles), steamed fish, and… sago grubs! Yes, we ate worms!
The no. 1 thing you need to do when visiting Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon to get the most out of your visit. What is it?
On the first leg of our Albania road trip, we go from the port of Saranda to the UNESCO-recognised Gjirokaster, but closely avoided destroying our rental car when we decide to go on SH74, Albania’s death road.
December Christmas time holiday in the gorgeous Palawan, in the Philippines, including a Tao Expedition from El Nido to Coron.
Tamales. The first of many great meals, prepared for us by Chef Edgar.
These pelican birds were everywhere. Fascinating to watch, they sometimes also seemed curious about us.
Plastic and fibrerglass - I quickly jumped on the opportunity to paddle a low-volume single kayak.
Our guides provided fundamental kayak technique.
Modeled by Laura and Pancho.
Walking on the dunes in prohibited. The area is also rich in archaeological specimens. Our guide, Chino, showed us some in the area.
Some creatures want to get up close and personal.
No kayaking planned for today. We visit a sea lion rookery!
Other side of Isla Partida
A great reminder that sometimes it’s best to just sit and watch the wonder of the world around us.
Monica teaches us how to use Paco.
The last few days were particularly windy. Paco’s tent walls blew away and he was placed out in the open (out of sight). I don’t think I’ve ever been so ‘free’ doing no.2.
Even as the sun sets, there’s work to be done, so we guests can enjoy ourselves and relax for the night.
Many a night were spent identifying the stars, planets and constellations we could see. Chino: “Do you want to look at stars or your phone?”
Super yummy ceviche, loaded with seafood. Yum!
Thank you BOA and new friends for a magical week.
